The Seal ribbon protects the body; cultured and refined, bearing great virtue.
The month branch contains the Proper Seal (Zhengyin) as its primary qi, with the Seal revealing in the heavenly stems. The Day Master has vitality, the Seal is not excessively restrained by Wealth stars, and having Officer stars generating the Seal is even better.
Those with the Proper Seal pattern are kind-hearted, benevolent and tolerant, and value spiritual and cultural cultivation. They have strong learning ability and good memory, and are suited to industries requiring accumulation and refinement such as education, culture, academia, and religion. They are gentle and introverted, disliking conflict with others. In relationships, they are willing to help others and are respected, though sometimes they become detached from reality due to excessive idealism.
Formation conditions: 1. Proper Seal is in command and revealed; 2. The Day Master has vitality, with the Seal generating the body harmoniously; 3. Wealth stars are not strong enough to restrain the Seal; 4. Officer-Seal mutual generation is best. Breaking conditions: 1. Wealth stars are too strong and break the Seal; 2. The Seal is too strong and the Day Master too weak (mother strong, child weak); 3. The Seal is punished, clashed, broken, or harmed; 4. Eating/Output stars are too strong and excessively drain the body.
For example, a Geng Metal Day Master born in the Chou month, with Ji Earth Proper Seal revealing in the stem, and Shen or You in the branches as roots — this is the Proper Seal pattern. The Qing Dynasty scholar Ji Xiaolan had strong Seals in his chart, indicating outstanding literary talent and profound knowledge. Many professors, scholars, and cultural figures have Proper Seal patterns or Seal-dominant charts.
