The Best Bazi Calculators in 2026, Compared Honestly

July 19, 2026 · Last verified: 2026-07-19

There are now dozens of free bazi calculators, and most of them will give you a chart. The differences are in what they quietly skip: true solar time correction, Ten Gods and Symbolic Stars, Luck Pillars, whether you can see the chart without handing over an email address, and what happens to your birth data afterward. This page compares six widely used calculators — including our own, with that relationship disclosed here, not in a footnote — on the criteria that actually change the chart you get. Last verified: July 2026.

What makes a bazi calculator worth trusting

A useful comparison starts with criteria you can re-check yourself. We scored six widely used tools on seven dimensions that change what you actually see on the chart: true solar time correction, Ten Gods in the free layer, Symbolic Stars in the free layer, Luck Pillars (including start-of-luck timing), whether you can cast without signup, AI interpretation availability, and how many interface languages are offered.

Each cell in the table below is labeled by how we verified it: **tested** (live site check on July 19, 2026), **document review** (privacy policy, pricing page, or official docs), or **unverified** (we could not confirm on the live site). We do not crown a single winner — different tools fit different needs, and we name honest alternatives below.

FateForge publishes this page and is one of the six tools compared. We applied the same checklist to ourselves.

The criterion most calculators skip: true solar time

Clock time and solar time are not the same. Your time zone has a reference longitude; if you were born far from that line, the sun can be more than an hour ahead of or behind your wall clock. For BaZi, that shift can move you into a different two-hour watch — changing the hour pillar, and on some dates the day pillar too.

We stress-tested this with one birth profile: June 15, 1990, 14:30 clock time, Ürümqi, male, solar calendar. Ürümqi sits west of the UTC+8 central meridian, so true solar time correction is large — about 130 minutes — enough to move the hour pillar from the 未 (Wei) watch toward the 午 (Wu) watch.

With correction applied to 12:20 solar time, the reference hour pillar is **甲午 (Jia Wu)**. Year, month, and day pillars matched on every site we tested (庚午 / 壬午 / 辛亥); only the hour pillar split:

- **bazi-calculator.com** and **masterseanchan.com** returned **甲午** — they treated the location on UTC+8 and showed roughly −129.7 minutes of correction. - **mingli.info** and **openfate.ai** returned **乙未 (Yi Wei)** — their geocoding resolved Ürümqi to the IANA Asia/Urumqi zone (UTC+6), so the correction they applied was much smaller.

That is not a story about one site being "wrong" and another being "right." It is a **timezone-library choice** that changes the pillar — and none of the four sites we checked explains that choice on the results screen. A trustworthy calculator tells you which convention it uses. For background on what correction changes, see /guides/true-solar-time; for the 23:00 day-boundary question, see /guides/zi-time-theory.

Best for different needs

We do not name one "best" calculator for everyone. These are scene-based picks from the same July 2026 review:

**Professional deep learning (most free chart data, school toggles)** → **mingli.info**. The free layer is the deepest in the set: Ten Gods, 42 Symbolic Stars, full Luck Pillars with start timing, annual pillars, and more — with true solar time and Joined Rat Hour options. Runner-up for depth: **bazi-calculator.com** (Ten Gods strength analysis and 19 interface languages).

**Free, no signup, thickest stack including basic reading** → **openfate.ai**. Chart, Symbolic Stars, Luck Pillars with a precise start date, elemental summaries, and a basic narrative — all without an account, plus a public methodology panel. On our own product, **FateForge** matches on structural free scope (Ten Gods, Symbolic Stars, Luck Pillars, annual/monthly layers) with no signup; Symbolic Stars include per-star notes, and deeper AI sits behind a paid layer (with a limited-time free window during our review).

**True solar time you can see and control** → **bazi-calculator.com** (longitude, GMT, displayed correction minutes and RST) and **masterseanchan.com** (default-on correction with the offset shown; UTC+8 convention on our test profile).

**Symbolic Stars without a paywall or email gate** → mingli.info (42 stars), openfate.ai, FateForge, and fatemaster.ai. bazi-calculator.com shows a few per pillar; masterseanchan lists stars but requires an email to unlock the Shen Sha tab.

**Luck Pillars with start-of-luck timing in the free layer** → mingli.info, openfate.ai, and fatemaster.ai (start time to day/minute). FateForge shows start age but not an exact calendar date. bazi-calculator.com shows only the current Luck Pillar free; masterseanchan calculates eight steps but locks them behind email.

**Privacy policy clarity** → openfate.ai (detailed policy listing AI vendors) and FateForge (/privacy in four languages). Note trade-offs: mingli.info stores data in Russia; masterseanchan runs ad networks with a generic Termly policy.

**Most interface languages** → bazi-calculator.com (19), then openfate.ai and fatemaster.ai (5 each), then mingli.info and FateForge (4 each), then masterseanchan (1).

**Celebrity chart library** → **bazi-calculator.com** (Famous Charts; some search features are Premium).

**AI interpretation on the chart** → openfate.ai (basic free), fatemaster.ai (free tier + subscription depth), and FateForge (paid depth; rule-based layer free). The other three calculator pages we tested do not embed AI on the chart itself.

For a wider look at AI BaZi platforms, see /guides/compare/openfate-alternatives. If you are choosing between chart systems rather than vendors, see Zi Wei Dou Shu vs BaZi at /guides/compare/zi-wei-dou-shu-vs-bazi.

How we evaluated

**When:** July 19, 2026 (Pacific time).

**Who:** FateForge editorial — we are an independent product and one of the six tools in the table.

**How:** We used the same birth profiles across live sites, recorded pillar outputs and free-layer features, and read each vendor's privacy and pricing pages where relevant. Cells marked **unverified** mean we could not complete that check without a login, purchase, or anonymous session we did not run.

**Disclosure:** FateForge (fateforge.me) is included on equal terms. We did not inflate our scores and we recorded our own gaps (for example, Luck Pillars show start age but not an exact start date; four interface languages, not the most in the set).

**Re-verification:** Feature sets and pricing change. The "Last verified" date at the top of this page is the freshness signal — not the publish date alone.

FAQ

What is the most important feature in a bazi calculator?

True solar time correction. Your clock time can differ from solar time by over an hour depending on your longitude within the time zone — enough to change your hour pillar, and occasionally your day pillar. A calculator that skips this correction can produce a different chart from a corrected one, which is why we list it as the first criterion and apply it in our own tool.

Is a free bazi calculator enough, or do I need a paid reading?

For the chart itself, free is genuinely enough — pillars, elements, Ten Gods, Symbolic Stars, and Luck Pillars are all computable, and several tools (ours included) compute them free with no signup. What paid layers add is interpretation depth: longer analysis, cross-system synthesis, and saved history. Start free; pay only when you have a specific question the free reading did not cover.

Why does my chart look different on different calculators?

Three common causes: true solar time (some calculators apply it, most do not), the day-boundary rule for the 23:00 Zi hour (schools differ), and solar-term boundaries for the month pillar. None of these automatically means one site is "wrong" — but a trustworthy calculator tells you which conventions it uses. We publish ours on the chart page.

Are AI bazi readings reliable?

AI interpretation is only as good as the chart data under it and the discipline of the reading. Used well, AI is excellent at explaining chart structure in plain language and connecting concepts — Day Master, Ten Gods, elements — coherently. Used badly, it produces fluent generic text. Our rule, in our own tool and in this comparison: the chart calculation must be deterministic and shown, and the AI layer should be framed as interpretation for reflection — not prediction.

How was this comparison made?

We tested six widely used tools in July 2026 with the same set of birth data, checking each criterion in the table directly on the live sites. FateForge is one of the six; we applied the same criteria to ourselves and disclose this relationship at the top of the page. We re-verify the table periodically and date-stamp the last check.

No calculator predicts a future. The best any tool can do is compute a chart correctly and explain it honestly — what you build on that picture is up to you.
