Thunder within the earth: Fu; the former kings thus closed the passes on the solstice, and travelers and merchants did not move; the ruler did not inspect the regions. — Thunder stirs within the earth, symbolizing the return of yang energy; the former kings therefore closed the passes on the winter solstice to rest, travelers and merchants ceased movement, and the ruler did not inspect the regions.
The Fu hexagram symbolizes return and revival, the return of a single yang line. In career matters, after extreme adversity comes prosperity; it is a new beginning; in relationships, reconciliation and reunion are possible; in decision-making, one should seize the opportunity for revival, move upward positively, and it is beneficial to go somewhere.
